This tattoo was done in two sessions, about 8.5 hours in total and was my client's first tattoo. It is fairly large as it takes up the entire back of his calf and the some. I really appreciate when clients give me full creative freedom and trust in their design, as I feel it yields the best result. The piece was primarily inspired by David Bowie's final album and title song, Blackstar, with also a nod to HP Lovecraft. It is intended to symbolize one facing their mortality, as each person will deal with it differently.There are other elements intended for symbolizm as well.
